Opportunities for Travel and Tourism in India
One thing is for certain - life in India is never dull or boring! Not only will you get a chance to practice your English on a daily basis, but you will also be in the heart of an activity and traveling mecca! The city of Delhi is perfectly situated in the north for easy day trips to the Taj and also short jaunts to the hill-stations of the Himalayas, the ancient cities and ruins of Rajasthan, the majestic Golden Temple in Amritsar, or the idyllic yoga retreat of Rishikesh - to name only a few. India's extensive rail network makes traveling easy and extremely affordable. The whole country is right at your doorstep!
Besides the out-of-Delhi excursions that are possible, the city itself it alive and teeming with adventures around every corner. They say that the city of Delhi has been destroyed and rebuilt eight times in its history, making it a treasure trove of ancient history and architecture. Whether you're interested in the ancient past seen in the Muslim district of Old Delhi (home of the largest mosque in India), or you want to get a glimpse of the modern face of India as seen in the wide tree-lined streets of New Delhi, there truly is something new to see and do every day you're here. The ultra-new and high-tech subway line that is close to completion for the Commonwealth Games makes getting around the city quite convenient - but don't pass up the chance to take a cycle-rickshaw around the narrow streets and alleys either!
